Infographics can be a powerful tool in helping to communicate important but difficult to understand ideas. But, what about all that unimportant data? Can design help you do normal everyday things just like it can be used to sell widgets or promote brand values? Yes, yes it can.
Take for example this infographic that we designed with data collected from the popular video game, Call of Duty MW3. It isn’t going to help you make a smart investment, or better understand geopolitical turmoil, but it will help you pick the right gun for every situation and blow away the competition — if you’re into that sort of thing.
The data for this graphic comes partly from our own testing, but mostly from this spreadsheet which does an excellent job in recording important statistics but isn’t so easy to quickly parse. Armed with this information we set out to design a presentation that would not only be easy for your brain to process, but actually show the range comparison in even greater detail. With this you can see the exact points in which a gun pulls ahead of the competition. If you had a print out of this on your wall you could quickly glance over at it after getting out-gunned to see why you lost, and what you could choose to turn the tables. Speaking of… we plan to do a print run sometime in the near future, so if you are interested in a copy of your very own, drop us a line and we’ll contact you when they are for sale. It’s going to be impressively large, like 30″ x 34″, so save some wall space.
